Honored and Grateful – A Message from Aaron Valdez

Aaron Valdez endorsed by 7 previous mayors of Eagle Pass

As Election Day approaches, I want to take a moment to say something simple but powerful:

Thank you, Eagle Pass. 🙏

I am deeply honored to have received the endorsements of leaders and organizations that have shaped our city and served it with dedication:

✅ 6 Former Mayors of Eagle Pass
✅ The Current Mayor of Eagle Pass
✅ Eagle Pass Police Association
✅ Eagle Pass Firefighters Union

This broad and unified support isn’t just humbling — it’s a sign that the people of Eagle Pass are ready for leadership built on unity, transparency, and real results.

United Support from City Leaders

It’s rare for a candidate to receive endorsements from six former mayors — individuals who each faced the responsibilities, decisions, and sacrifices that come with leading a city.

And now, with the current Mayor also offering support, it signals something even more powerful: continuity, confidence, and shared vision.

This isn’t just politics. It’s experience backing integrity.

Backed by Eagle Pass First Responders

The endorsements from the Eagle Pass Police Association and the Eagle Pass Firefighters Union speak volumes.

These are the men and women who risk their lives daily to keep us safe. Their support reflects a deep trust in my commitment to public safety, fairness, and collaboration.

They know I will listen, lead, and work with them — not against them.

Why These Endorsements Matter

These aren’t just symbolic gestures. They represent:

  • Decades of combined civic leadership
  • Bi-partisan confidence in my leadership style
  • Validation of a campaign focused on unity, not division

When people from different backgrounds, parties, and professions come together behind a single candidate, it shows something bigger than politics — it shows hope.

A Vision Rooted in Transparency and Integrity

I’ve said it from Day One — I’m running for Mayor to bring clear, open, and honest leadership back to City Hall.

Endorsements alone don’t build trust. But they do reflect a shared belief in the values I’ve built my campaign on:

  • Accountability in every decision
  • Openness in every conversation
  • Service to every corner of Eagle Pass

Unity Over Division – Bridging Communities Together

The support I’ve received is not about red or blue. It’s about Eagle Pass — all of it.

Our campaign welcomes everyone. And our administration will reflect everyone. Whether you’re north of the highway or downtown, whether you’ve lived here 60 years or just moved in — this city belongs to all of us.

Together, we will:

  • Empower neighborhoods
  • Protect our front-line workers
  • Invest in youth and opportunity
  • Honor our seniors
  • And put people before politics

Setting the Record Straight in Eagle Pass

n the final days of any election, it’s not uncommon to see rumors swirl and half-truths spread. But when political tactics cross the line into misinformation, it’s time to speak up.

That’s why I want to take a moment to set the record straight about the political ads you may have seen recently in a local newspaper — ads labeled with the small acronym “APP.”

What Is “APP” and Why It Matters

You may have noticed that some political messages have been appearing in what looks like regular news articles, but carry the tiny label “APP” — Anuncio Político Pagado.

That’s Spanish for “Paid Political Advertisement.”

The problem? Most readers aren’t noticing it. And many are taking these ads as fact — not realizing they’re paid messages from a political campaign.

When political ads are disguised as news, voters are misled. And that’s simply not right.

The Problem with Disguised Political Ads

Let’s be clear: there’s nothing wrong with paying for advertising. That’s a legal and common part of campaigning.

But presenting ads as news stories, especially when done in small print or buried language, crosses the line from persuasion to deception.

It:

  • Undermines trust in local journalism
  • Confuses readers who assume it’s neutral reporting
  • Creates unfair narratives built on manipulation, not merit

And in the end, it damages the integrity of the election process.

What Texas Ethics Law Actually Requires

Under Texas law, political advertisements must clearly disclose who paid for them. The law is intended to help voters distinguish genuine news from campaign messaging.

But when only “APP” appears in tiny font, it’s not clear enough. Voters deserve more than footnotes and fine print — they deserve full disclosure.

As the saying goes: “Be careful with the small print.”

Our Campaign’s Commitment to Honesty

Since Day One, our campaign has stayed focused on real issues that matter to Eagle Pass families:

  • Affordable housing
  • Water security
  • Ethical leadership
  • Transparent governance

We haven’t played dirty. We haven’t attacked others through hidden ads. And we haven’t tried to mislead voters with carefully crafted confusion.

We’ve chosen truth over tricks — and we always will.

Real Leadership Means Real Transparency

Leadership isn’t just about what you promise. It’s about how you conduct yourself when no one’s looking.

That’s why I’ve made it my mission to be:

  • Clear in my words
  • Honest in my actions
  • Transparent in my plans

No gimmicks. No misleading ads. Just real conversations about how to build a stronger, more united Eagle Pass.

Let’s Focus on What Matters to Eagle Pass

While others may rely on distractions, our campaign is laser-focused on the priorities you’ve told us matter most:

🏠 Affordable Housing
💧 Water Infrastructure and Security
🛣️ Smarter Streets and Traffic Solutions
🚨 Public Safety and Emergency Response
📢 Real Community Engagement

That’s what we’re about. That’s why I’m running. And that’s what I’ll deliver.

What You Should Know Before Voting

Before you head to the polls, here’s how you can protect yourself from misinformation:

  • Check for “APP” or paid ad disclosures
  • Question stories that lack sources or seem overly biased
  • Follow official campaign pages for facts and direct updates
  • Talk to your neighbors — community conversations matter

You deserve a campaign built on truth, not trickery.

City Business is Serious Business

Managing a city’s budget is no small task. With over $58 million in expenditures, every dollar must be spent wisely to ensure transparency, accountability, and progress. The people of Eagle Pass deserve leadership that prioritizes responsible spending and strategic investments that directly impact the community.

The Importance of Fiscal Responsibility

Ensuring Every Taxpayer Dollar Counts

City funds come from hardworking taxpayers, and it’s crucial that these resources are used effectively. Mismanagement or wasteful spending can lead to financial instability, higher taxes, or neglected community needs. That’s why responsible budget allocation is a top priority.

Budget Transparency: A Non-Negotiable

Transparency ensures public trust. Residents should have access to information about how their tax dollars are spent. By implementing open financial reports and public budget meetings, we can create a system that keeps residents informed and involved.

Setting Clear Goals for City Budgets

Aligning Budgeting with Community Needs

A city’s budget should be tied to clear objectives. Investing in infrastructure, safety, education, and economic development must be at the forefront. By aligning expenditures with these priorities, Eagle Pass can grow while ensuring residents’ needs are met.

Long-Term Planning for a Sustainable Future

A well-planned budget isn’t just about today—it’s about ensuring a strong financial future. Through strategic planning and investments, Eagle Pass can create a sustainable economic environment that fosters growth for generations to come.

Key Areas of Smart Investment

Public Safety & Emergency Services

Investing in law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency response teams ensures that residents feel safe and protected. These essential services must have the funding needed to operate efficiently.

Infrastructure & Roads

Quality infrastructure is key to economic growth. Fixing roads, improving public transportation, and maintaining utilities should be prioritized to support both businesses and residents.

Economic Development & Job Creation

Strategic investments in business incentives and workforce training can lead to job growth and economic expansion. Supporting small businesses and attracting new industries will help keep Eagle Pass thriving.

Education & Community Development

A strong community starts with access to quality education and resources. Allocating funds toward schools, libraries, and community programs ensures opportunities for future generations.

Accountability and Leadership in Budgeting

Ensuring Fiscal Discipline

Budget discipline means making tough decisions. It requires cutting unnecessary expenses while ensuring critical services remain well-funded. Leadership must be firm and committed to financial responsibility.

Holding Departments Accountable

Every city department should justify its budget and spending. Regular audits and performance reviews can ensure funds are used effectively and responsibly.

Engaging the Community in Budget Decisions

The best way to manage a city’s finances is to involve the people who live there. Holding public forums and encouraging feedback allows residents to voice their priorities and concerns.

Conclusion

City business is serious business, and responsible budget management is at the core of a thriving, well-functioning community. By focusing on transparency, strategic investments, and fiscal discipline, we can ensure that every dollar benefits the people of Eagle Pass. Leadership must be committed to accountability, efficiency, and smart decision-making—because the future of our city depends on it.
